Our high school unit has various programs
Alternate Assessment: Alise Olivo | Assistant Principal
P176x Alternate Assessment students participate in age and grade appropriate content instruction aligned with grade level skills including access to content-based vocabulary, adapted and non-adapted texts and a literacy rich learning environment to support students to engage in critical thinking skills and collective problem solving with their peers, with access to rigorous instruction. Students follow a modified and adapted curriculum program with access to grade appropriate content material. Students are provided with a multitude of social activities, celebrations and sporting events as a school community and in partnership with families; in order to provide them with parallel experiences as their peers. Highlights include: Halloween Social, New Year’s Bash, 176x Warrior Pep Rally, Respect for All/Spirit Week with Truman High School, Varsity Basketball Team, Step Team, Cheer Squad.
Standardized Prep: Patricia Parker | Assistant Principal
The P176x Standard Prep unit serves a diverse group of high school students with a 12:1:1 teacher-to-student ratio. In this setting, students in standardized assessments follow a general education curriculum and earn credits towards a High School Diploma. In contrast, students in the alternate assessment 12:1:1 setting engage in a curriculum designed to develop skills needed for the GED, should they choose to pursue it in the future.
